Attachment or happiness

This is a mind map summary and exploration of the following quote:

“You must choose between your attachment and happiness. You cannot have both” Anthony de Mello

In the present moment you always have two choices – attachment or happiness. (“AH”) Either conditional or unconditional acceptance of the moment. Conditional acceptance is likely to lead to resistance; feeling stuck, sad and dissatisfied. Unconditional acceptance is more likely to lead to freedom, joy, fun and happiness.

Attachment leads to finality and should’s – wanting and seeking a different moment. Can you change it? Then change it. If you cannot change it, can you accept it, even if it is temporary?

Letting go is a single thought away; the origin of every story’s journey is a single thought.

“AH” – Attachment or happiness.

The choice – always.

What a unique idea! I love the idea of using mindmaps to explore your thoughts like this. I’ve only ever used them for scheduling and brainstorming. Very cool!
