This mind map draws inspiration from an outstanding book called “Innovate like Edison” by Michael J. Gelb and Sarah Miller Caldicott. Michael J. Gelb is the author of “How to Think like Leonardo da Vinci” and many other books. You can follow him on Twitter @MichaelJGelb and visit his website at http://michaelgelb.com/ Sarah Miller Caldicott is the great-grandniece of Thomas Edison. Visit her website at http://www.powerpatterns.com/

I’ve called this mind map Dream Vision and it covers hints and tips, inspired by the book, for getting your message across to an audience, be it a presentation, sales, marketing, ideation or innovation and more. How might you excite and incite? Dream Vision offers suggestions for catching the eye and interest plus areas to consider in order to create influence and impact. “Innovate like Edison” is a fascinating read and this mind map covers only a few of the many comprehensive ideas within the book – I highly recommend reading it.

In the Dream Vision mind map I have used an acronym of the word “Dream” to explore 5 key areas for inspiring interest and action.

“D” stands for “Desire” – Finding ways to tap into human qualities and experiences; what people can relate to. It suggests focussing on needs by identifying what people are looking for and how and why they need what you have to offer.

“R” stands for “Reason” – Exploring ways you can interest the mind, encourage curiosity and also excite the heart by connecting to and evoking feelings.

“E” stands for “Emotions” – Connecting feelings to knowledge, raising the memorability factor by tapping personal meanings and associations and encouraging the desire or reason to act or do.

“A” stands for “Action” – Converting the needs, feelings and desires to an outcome, solution or answer; moving from interest to feeling compelled to act or do.

“M” stands for “Memorable” – Creating an exceptional experience, an unforgettable hook or message; unique, outstanding, original, creative and extraordinary. Often simple yet unusual enough to create impact and guarantee recall.

The acronym again:

D – Desire
R – Reason
E – Emotions
A – Action
M – Memorable

A quote from the book – “Your ability to influence others in a memorable way, as Edison did, will dramatically improve your prospects for success in every endeavour”

A quote from Thomas Edison – “To have a great idea, have lots of them”

A quote from me – “Read the book “Innovate like Edison” :)

    [WHY]
One of my dreams in 2012 is to create 101 Chinese poems in the Chinese Year 101. From Life Coach Adam Sicinski’s blog and email, I found you are an expert in Mindmapping paintings. Searching from the http://www.mindmapinspiration.com
I found so many artworks and got very excited in reading the maps on 2012/1/21. 2012/1/22 was the last day of Chinese Rabbit Year, as a Chinese tradional custom, we always clean house before the coming of the new year. I found your map “De-clutter” was a very helpful guideline when I cleaned my house at the very moment. In return of your kindness and inspiration, I created my #101-008 poem for you in the very early morning 1/23/2012. All your wisdom is a bonus new Dragon year gift to me. I will take both Adam & you as my mentors and study all your mindmapping maps as the guidelines of my life blueprints in 2012.

    [POEM MEANING of 7 sentences]
The acronym of the poem –
From each 1st word of the 7 sentences means ”Paul Coach’s Dragon Gift”.

(1)It is provable that everyone may learn the Mindmapping skills from Paul’s E-books.
(2)The map called De-clutter from all the great Paul’s artistic maps inspired me when I cleaned my house at the end of the Chinese Rabbit year.
(3)Paul’s maps and E-book are so attractive and inspiring that I can hardly stop reading it.
(4)I believe practice make perfect, and you are the expert in artistic mindmapping maps.
(5)It is just like I found a valuable pearl when I searched in the treasure world from the internet – especially from http://www.mindmapinspiration.com I am so excited to get the New Dragon gift during my Chinese Lunar Dragon New Year vacation.
(6)The gift and the mentors (Adam & Paul) are very precious to me.
(7)Birds of a feather block together……in professional mindmapping fields.

May you have a prosperous Chines New Dragon Year!
P.S. My poem #101-007 is for Adam. Please refer to:
